With Born of Nightfall, Fellwinter plunges deeper into its own frozen mythology. Issued after the ascetic fury of Dark Mediaeval Art, this new demo presents the project’s most ambitious work to date: “Driven Snow”, a side-length composition of cold, spiraling melodicism—majestic, penitential, and perhaps the crowning achievement of the project thus far. The reverse side offers a triptych of contrasts: one track of pounding, austere black metal steeped in the shadows of forgotten ancestors, followed by a sorrow-stricken piano piece that drifts into quiet, reflective desolation. Though merely a demo, Born of Nightfall stands tall in the Fellwinter canon.
