"Originally released on cassette in 2013 via the artist’s own Hibiskofon imprint and later reissued on CD in 2015 by Germany’s Trollmusic, Sorgsendömet Fobos—the inaugural release of Tusen År Under Jord (translated as “Thousand Years Under the Earth”)—emerged as a parallel entity to the artist’s then-primary project, Dusa. It arose from a small cache of increasingly fantasy-laden material that did not fit within the narrow confines of Dusa. Conceived as a personal reimagining of the Kosmische Musik of 1970s Germany, this music pursues a more grounded, terrestrial character, binding its astral impulses with medieval and martial austerity.

Self-defined as “Pale Moon Music,” Sorgsendömet Fobos operates within the broader domains of dark ambient and drone. This is not music for the cosmonaut, but for the wanderer—moving through an ancient, moss-choked world, skirting ruins and unfamiliar flora, or perhaps dreaming these scenes of the firmament into being.

Since its unassuming original release, Sorgsendömet Fobos has steadily accrued a devoted following, attaining the status of a cult masterpiece. In recognition of this legacy, Hosianna Mantra Recordings now presents a newly remastered vinyl edition."

Excellent dark ambient/drone not unlike a pagan Zoviet France or Caretaker from this past Wagner Ödegård collaborator.
